As a child, I watched my parents build their paper shredding business, Security Paper Shredding, and my grandparents build and operate their business, Delta Electric Company.  Although things were not always easy, it was evident to me at a very young age that I was destined to own and operate a family business. I suppose you could say that entrepreneurship is in my blood.

I grew up on an acreage north of Omaha.  With over four acres of untamed grass to care for, my parents taught me to mow the lawn at a very young age.  After spending many summers mowing my parent’s lawn, I decided that it was time to expand my lawn care business at the ripe old age of fourteen.  So, that summer I started mowing the neighboring acreages.  That same winter, missing the steady work, and admittedly the cash flow, I started handling snow removal for the neighbors.  I did not have a driver’s license at the time, but I was able to drive my little John Deere tractor to each of my clients’ houses.

Over the years, my small landscaping and snow removal venture grew.  As I entered high school, and obtained a driver’s license, I began mowing more lawns and plowing more driveways, this time with a truck!  As I entered college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the fall of 2001, I formed AJ’s Landscaping and Snow Removal.  During my college years, I performed snow removal in Lincoln during the winter months, and spent my summers in Omaha installing and maintaining landscaping.  After graduating from college in 2006 with a degree in Business Management, I moved to Omaha, and continue to own and operate AJ’s Landscaping, LLC. Although my landscaping and snow removal business has grown, and our methods have become slightly more sophisticated over the years, I still hold onto the values that were instilled in me as a young child by my parents and grandparents.
